Level II - Level I Display Area

The Level I area of the Level II window provides 17 different data fields:

  1. Symbol Field: Symbol currently being displayed
  2. Short Arrow: Reflects Tick rule and Bid Test rule¹
  3. Last: Price of last trade
  4. Change: Change from previous days close
  5. Volume: Total daily volume
  6. High: Highest price of the day
  7. Low: Lowest price of the day
  8. Open: Market opening price
  9. Last Trade: Time of last Trade
  10. Bid: Current bid (left side of the Level II)
  11. Ask: Current ask (right side of the Level II)
  12. Close: Closing price of the previous trading day
  13. Last Vol: Volume of the last trade
  14. Size: Available shares (inside market) bid
  15. Size: Available shares (inside market) ask
  16. Spread: The difference between the inside bid and ask
  17. Mkt: The market associated with the symbol

  1. The Short Arrow adjusts depending on the exchange or market. For Nasdaq securities, the arrow will point up and turn green when the inside bid is higher than the previous bid. The arrow will point down and turn red when the bid is lower than the previous inside bid. Refer to NASD Rule 3350 (the Bid Test Rule).

    Securities trading from other exchanges will follow the Plus Tick rule. The arrow will point up and turn green when the price of the last trade was either equal to the last uptick or was higher than the price of the last trade. The arrow will point down and turn red when the price of the last trade was either equal to the last downtick or was lower than the price of the last trade. Refer to SEC Rule 10-a-1, Plus-Tick Rule.
