The MBT Navigator offers Hotkeys for clients who prefer using the keyboard to place trades. We suggest using multiple keystrokes to avoid conflict with any of the standard Windows operating system hotkeys. For example, use "Ctrl+Alt+C" instead of "Ctrl+C."
To locate the "Preferences - Hotkeys" window, right-click in any of the MBT Navigator windows and select "Preferences." Left-click the drop-down arrow located in the upper right of the Title bar and left-click "Hotkeys."

- Add Hotkeys - Left-click "Add" to bring up the Add Hotkey window.

1. Hotkey Options
- Keystroke - While the mouse cursor is flashing in the "Keystoke" field, select a combination of keys from the keyboard and watch them appear.
Note: You cannot use the "F4," Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Esc, Enter, Space bar, Window key, Print Screen, Tab, or the Menu keys for hotkeys. Hotkeys are designed to override all hotkeys of other programs. We suggest testing each hotkey on a fictious security (TEST) before using the hotkey with an actual security.
- Enabled - Check the "Enabled" box to activate individual hotkeys.
- Auto-Description - Check the "Auto-Description" box to have the MBT Navigator describe the newly created hotkey.
- Description - View the Auto-Description in this field or uncheck the "Auto-Description" box to type your own hotkey description.
2. Action
- Buy - This will initiate a Buy order. Limit orders will be based on the best offer price.
- Sell - This will initiate a Sell order if you are long the stock or a Short Sale order if you hold no position in the stock. Limit orders will be based on the best bid price.
- Bid - This will initiate a Buy Limit order at the best bid price. Not available with Market orders.
- Offer - This will initiate a Sell Limit order at the best offer price. Not available with Market orders.
- Price Adj - The Price Adjustment field will alter the price, positively or negatively, based on the order types mentioned above. For example, if you set the Price Adj. at -0.01, and select the "Buy" and "Limit" radio buttons, you will send a Buy Limit order at $0.01 below the best offer price.
- Cancel Orders (Symbol/Account) - This selection will cancel each live order, individually, for a particular symbol. Highlight any row in the Open Orders, Position, Orderbook or Level II window (as long as the appropriate symbol is represented) containing the desired position (this will designate the symbol). Be aware that if you selected the "Confirm order cancellation" box in the "Preferences-Order Entry" window, you will be asked to confirm each cancellation.

- Cancel All Orders (Account) - This selection will cancel all live orders for all symbols. Any of the MBT Navigator's windows can be active to allow this hotkey to function. Be aware that if you selected the "Confirm order cancellation" box in the "Preferences-Order Entry" window, you will be asked to confirm the order cancellations.

- Close Position - This selection will close an open position by sending a market order. Highlight any row in the Open Orders, Position, Orderbook or Level II window (if the appropriate symbol is represented) containing the desired position (this will designate the symbol). Be aware that if you selected the "Confirm order placement" box the "Preferences-Order Entry" window, you will be asked to confirm the order. The "Close Position" hotkey is a market order that is set up in the "Order routing defaults" section located in the "Preferences-Order Entry" window.

- Close All Positions (Account) - This selection will close all open positions by sending a market order for each position. Be aware that if you selected the "Confirm order placement" box in the "Preferences-Order Entry" window, you will be asked to confirm the orders. The "Close All Position" hotkey generates market orders as defaulted in the "Order routing defaults" section of the "Preferences-Order Entry" window.

3. Order Options
- Quantity - The number of shares that you place your order for. You can adjust the share volume of your order with the up and down arrows.
- Expiration -
- Day - Day orders stay live until 4:00 pm EST or until filled, whichever comes first.
- Day+ - Day+ orders stay live until 8:00 pm EST or until filled, whichever comes first.
- IOC - An IOC (Immediate or Cancel) order will attempt to immediately fill as many shares as possible before cancelling your order.
- Order Type -
- Market Order - An order to buy or sell a stated amount of a security at the best possible price at the time the order is received in the marketplace. Market orders will be filled, however, you cannot be sure of the price. Stock prices vary based on current conditions, and these conditions are not always reflected on your computer screen. The actual price at which your order is filled may be better or worse than expected.
- Limit Order - An order to buy or sell a security at a specified price or better. Your order will not be filled unless the stock trades at that level. Placing a limit order, however, is not a guarantee that your trade will be executed at your limit price. It does, however, eliminate the risk that your order will be filled at a price worse than you expected.
- Route - MBTX, ARCA, ISLD, BRUT, ISI, HRZG, and REDI are the available routes. Refer to Chapter 16.2 for detailed explanations of each route. For more information, you can find the MBT Order Routing Grid at www.mbtrading.com/waters/MBTOrderRouting.pdf.
- Vol. Type -
- AON - All or None orders will look for market participants who can completely fill the order without incurring any partial fills. Only available with ISI.
- Part - Partial orders are the most common volume type and are available on all routes. Any portion of a part order can be executed.
- Edit Hotkeys - Left-click on the HotKey you wish to edit. Left-click "Edit" to bring up the Edit Hotkey window. Make the desired changes and select "OK." The definitions of available options in the "Edit Hotkey" window are the same as those mentioned above in the "Add Hotkeys" section.
- Remove Hotkeys - Left-click on the hotkey you wish to remove and left-click "Remove." If you remove the wrong hotkey by accident, select "Cancel." This will close the "Preferences-Hotkey" window. Re-open the "Preferences-Hotkey" window to find the previously removed hotkey(s).
